1.6 CONDICION DE ALFABETISMO
El 61,8 % de los 86 479 productores agropecuarios individuales
que conducen el 71,0 % del total de tierras agropecuarias, saben leer
y escribir. En cambio, el 36,4% que conducen el 27,4 % de las tierras,
por su condici¢n de analfabetos, est n en desventaja para conocer por
medios escritos lo relacionado con la t‚cnica y administraci¢n de sus
respectivas unidades productivas.
a. Seg£n Provincia
En las 11 provincias de Ayacucho predominan los productores
alfabetos, sobre los analfabetos. La provincia de Huanca Sancos,
concentra el mayor porcentaje de productores alfabetos (72,4 %), le
sigue Lucanas (71,1 %), Paucar del Sara (68,0 %), Sucre (67,8 %),
V¡ctor Fajardo (65,4 %), Parinacochas (61,5 %), Huanta (59,4 %),
Vilcas Huaman (58,4 %), La Mar (57,8 %), Huamanga (56,9 %) y Cangallo
(55,8 %).

b. Seg£n Grupo de Edad
En casi todos los grupos de edad es predominate el porcentaje de
productores que saben leer y escribir. Los m s altos, corresponden a
los que tiene menos de 30 a¤os de edad y 30 a 44 a¤os con el 87,8 % y
76,9 % respectivamante, siguiendo una tendencia decreciente en los
dem s grupos hasta bajar a 37,1 % en el grupo de productores que
tienen 65 y m s a¤os de edad.

c. Seg£n Tama¤o de las Unidades Agropecuarias
De otra parte, la condici¢n de alfabetismo seg£n el tama¤o de
las UA, muestra una relaci¢n creciente de los productores alfabetos a
medida que aumenta el tama¤o de las UA.
Los que saben leer y escribir constituyen el 58,7 %, en el
estrato del minifundio, el 66,0 % en la peque¤a agricultura, el 74,1 %
con el estrato de la mediana agricultura, hasta llegar a 75,4 % en el
estrato de la gran agricultura.
d. Seg£n Regi¢n Natural
Los resultados del censo de 1994, indican que los alfabetos
constituyen el 61,1 % de los productores de la Sierra y el 71,3 % de
los agricultores de la Selva; y los que no saben leer y escribir,
representan el 37,1 % de los agricultores de la Sierra y el 27,3 % de
la Selva.
En ambas regiones el porcentaje de productores que saben leer y
escribir, aumenta, conforme se incrementa el tama¤o de la UA. As¡ en
la Sierra, el porcentaje de productores alfabetos es de 58,3 % en los
minifundistas, hasta llegar al 75,4 % en los grandes productores.
En la Selva, el 69,7 % de los minifundistas sabe leer y escribir
y esta proporci¢n se eleva hasta el 76,2 % en los medianos productores
para bajar a 75,0 % en los grandes productores.
