3.3 DISPONIBILIDAD PERMANENTE DE AGUA
De las 38 855 unidades agropecuarias con superficie agr¡cola bajo
riego, 19 174 (49,3 %) dispone de agua de riego permanente lo
que beneficia a 55 651,50 Has. (49,6 % de la superficie ag¡cola total
bajo riego) y 19 681 (50,7 %) con 56 512,96 Has. (50,4 %) disponen
irregularmente de agua de riego.
a. Seg£n Provincia
En las provincias de Islay y Caman se encuentran los m s altos
porcentajes de UA que disponen de agua permanente. En Islay, 3 303 UA
(96,8 %) disponen de agua permanente para regar 10 388,30 Has. (84,4 %
de la superficie agr¡cola bajo riego de esta provincia). En Caman ,
2 888 UA disponen de agua permanente para el regad¡o de 8 045,63
Has. (88,6 % de la superficie agr¡cola bajo riego).
Por el contrario, Caravel¡ y Arequipa son las provincias con
menor porcentaje de UA y extensi¢n de agua de regad¡o permanente. En
Caravel¡ s¢lo 160 UA (7,6 %) disponen de agua permanente, los cuales
benefician a 1 119,24 Has. (11,6 % de la superficie agr¡cola bajo
riego).
En Arequipa, £nicamente 1 385 UA (13,1 % a nivel provincial)
disponen de agua permanente cubriendo un rea de 3 125,82 Has.
(10,3 %) de superficie agr¡cola bajo riego.

b. Seg£n Tama¤o de las Unidades Agropecuarias
Cuando se analiza por estratos, en el de menos 3,0 Has. se ubica
el 65,4 % del total de unidades agropecuarias que tienen riego
permanente, que a su vez manejan 13 109,86 Has. (23,6 % del total
del rea con riego permanente). En el segundo estrato se tienen el
29,4 % de las UA con riego permanente para 25 885,13 Has. (46,5 %
del total). En el tercero s¢lo hay 4,3 % de las UA con riego
permanente para 11 048,42 Has. (19,8 % del total). Finalmente en las
de 50,0 y m s Has. s¢lo hay 171 UA con riego permanente para 5 608,10
Has. (10,1 %).
c. Seg£n Regi¢n Natural
Por Regiones Naturales, en la Costa, el estrato de menos de
3,0 Has. tiene el 60,7 % de las UA con riego permanente de la regi¢n,
cubriendo 5 255,42 Has., 22,3 % del total, con riego permanente. El
segundo estrato tiene 34,2 % de las UA, a su vez es el estrato que
m s superficie agr¡cola con riego permanente tiene, 11 706,41 Has. es
decir 49,6 %. En el tercer estrato existen 4,8 % de UA y 22,3 % de
la superficie agr¡cola con riego permanente. S¢lo existen 24 unidades
agropecuarias de 50,0 y m s Has. con riego permanente que conduce
1 363,81 Has.
En la Sierra, al igual que en la regi¢n anterior, el mayor
porcentaje de unidades agropecuarias con riego permanente se encuentra
en el estrato de minifundio, 68,2 % de las UA con 24,5 % del rea con
riego permanente y el estrato de los peque¤os productores, de 3,0 a
9,9 Has. que representan el 44,2 % de la superficie con riego
permanente, con el 26,6 % de las UA con riego permanente de la regi¢n.
