3.5 CALIDAD DEL AGUA
De las 13 055 unidades agropecuarias con superficie agr¡cola bajo
riego (14 312,98 Has.), se observa que 67,7 % de las UA tienen agua
de buena calidad, 7,0 % se encuentra contaminada con relaves, 7,6 %
contaminada con diversas sustancias, y 17,7 % se desconoce la calidad.
Esto quiere decir que 3 726,51 Has. (26,0 % del total bajo riego)
estar¡an siendo regadas con aguas contaminadas, y de 1 226,63 Has.
(8,6 % del total) no se conoce la calidad del agua.
En la Sierra, la distribuci¢n es similar al departamento. Por el
contrario la Selva presenta tan s¢lo 1 unidad agropecuaria (33,3 % del
total regional) que cuenta con agua contaminada con relaves y riegan
0,25 Has. (14,3 %).

a. Seg£n Tama¤o de las Unidades Agropecuarias
En el an lisis departamental por tama¤o de las UA, en todos ellos
es mayor a 62,0 % de la superficie del estrato que se riega con agua
de buena calidad, llegando a 71,5 % en el estrato de los minfundistas.
Asimismo, el porcentaje de rea regada con agua contaminada con
relaves es mayor en los grandes productores con 23,2 %, le sigue los
peque¤os productores con 14,6 %, los medianos productores con 12,4 % y
los mnifundistas con 8,8 %.
b. Seg£n Provincia
La mayor proporci¢n de superficie agr¡cola que son regadas con
agua de buena calidad, se encuentra en Lampa con 86,2 %, y por
estratos, el 95,9 % le corresponde a los minifundistas, 92,3 % a los
peque¤os, 88,9 % a los medianos y 52,1 % a los grandes productores.
En el segundo lugar se ubica la provincia de Melgar con 85,2 %, y por
tama¤o de las UA, se tiene que el 51,0 % de la superficie agr¡cola del
primer estrato son irrigadas con agua de buena calidad, el 54,4 % en
el segundo, el 69,4 % en el tercero y el 93,1 % en el £ltimo estrato.
En cambio en la provincia de San Rom n, el 80,3 % de la superficie
agr¡cola son regadas con aguas contaminadas, siendo en el estrato de
los grandes agricultores que tienen el mayor porcentaje (89,4%).

En la Sierra, se tiene 14 311,23 Has. bajo riego, de las cuales
el 65,4 % riegan con agua de buena calidad y el 26,0 % con agua
contaminada con relaves o con otras sustancias, y el 8,6 % de la
superficie agr¡cola bajo riego, se desconoce la calidad del agua que
emplea.
En la Selva, del 85,7 % de la superficie agr¡cola bajo riego, se
desconoce la calidad del agua con que son regadas y el 14,3 % son
regadas con agua contaminada con relaves.
