3.1 SUPERFICIE AGRICOLA BAJO RIEGO
De las 1 715 207,70 Has. de superficie agropecuaria trabajada
del departamento, s줹o 84 477,18 Has. (4,9 % del total), constituyen
la superficie agr죅ola bajo riego, siendo estas las tierras que
reciben agua para los cultivos en las unidades agropecuarias.
a. Seg즢 Provincia
El 31,5 % de la superficie agr죅ola bajo riego se concentra en
la provincia de Lucanas, 15,5 % en Huamanga, 14,0 % en Parinacochas,
7,9 % en Cangallo, 7,2 % en Huanta, 6,9 % en P쟵car del Sara Sara, el
4,6 % en La Mar y V죅tor Fajardo respectivamente, 3,3 % en Vilcas
Huam쟮, 2,3 % en Sucre y el 2,2 % en Huanca Sancos.

Entre 1972 y 1994, a쨚s de los dos 즠timos censos agropecuarios,
la superficie agropecuaria bajo riego pas� de 74 539,70 Has. a
84 477,18 Has., mostrando un crecimiento del 13,3 % en estos 22 a쨚s.

c. Seg즢 Regi줻 Natural
Al analizar las unidades agropecuarias y la superficie agr죅ola
bajo riego por regiones naturales, se encuentra que de las 57 654
unidades agropecuarias que tienen superficie agr죅ola con riego,
57 651 UA se ubican en la Sierra y s줹o 3 UA de ellas, se localizan en
la Selva. Asimismo la superficie bajo riego en la Sierra comprende
84 469,18 Has., lo que representa casi la totalidad del 쟲ea irrigada
en el departamento, a diferencia de la regi줻 de la Selva, donde s줹o
8,00 Has. de superficie se encuentran bajo riego.
