1.6 CONDICION DE ALFABETISMO
El 63,4 % de los productores agropecuarios individuales que con-
ducen el 72,5 % del total de tierras agropecuarias, saben leer y es-
cribir. El 36,0 % restante que conducen el 27,0 % de las tierras, por
su condici¢n de analfabetos, est n en desventaja para conocer por me-
dios escritos lo relacionado con la t‚cnica y administraci¢n de sus
respectivas unidades productivas.

a. Seg£n Provincia
La condici¢n de alfabetismo, descrita a nivel departamental, es
similar a nivel d e cada una de las provincias que lo integran; sin
embargo, merece destacar el alto porcentaje de productores analfabetos
existentes en la provincia de Cotabambas, donde representa el 44,7 %.
b. Seg£n Grupos de Edad
Mientras mayor sea la edad de los productores agropecuarios indi-
viduales menor es el porcentaje de aquellos que saben leer y escribir;
as¡ tenemos que el 88,8 % de productores menores de 30 a¤os son alfa-
betos, disminuyendo al 34,3 % entre los productores que tienen de 65 y
m s a¤os de edad.

De otra parte, la condici¢n de alfabetismo seg£n los estratos,
muestra una relaci¢n
creciente de los productores alfabetos, a medida que aumenta el tama¤o
de las UA. Los que saben leer y escribir constituye el 61,4 % en el
estrato del minifundio y contin£a creciendo en los siguientes estratos
hasta el 78,6 % de los grandes productores.
