3.5 CALIDAD DEL AGUA
De las 51 303 unidades agropecuarias con superficie agr¡cola bajo riego,
84,0 % tienen buena calidad de agua, 6,5 % se encuentran contaminadas con
diversas sustancias y en 9,5 %, se desconoce la calidad. Esto quiere decir
que 3 229,19 Has. (6,5 % del total), estar¡an siendo regadas con aguas conta-
minadas y de 3 903,12 Has. (7,9 % del total) no se conoce la calidad del agua.

a. Seg£n Provincia
A nivel de provincias se observa que cuatro de ellas: Antabamba, Aymaraes, Grau y
Abancay riegan la mayor cantidad de la superficie agr¡cola con agua de buena calidad,
siendo los porcentajes alcanzados de 93,3 %; 92,0 %; 89,6 % y 89,6 %, respectivamente.
Las citadas provincias tienen sus porcentajes de superficie agr¡cola regada con agua
de buena calidad por encima del promedio departamental (85,6%). Asimismo, la provincia
que tiene un porcentaje significativo de la superficie agr¡cola que es regada con agua
contaminada es Chincheros (20,8 %). Las provincias de Andahuaylas y Cotabambas, que
tambi‚n cuentan con una mayor superficie agr¡cola regada con agua de buena calidad,
tienen porcentajes significativos en cuanto al desconocimiento de la calidad del agua,
alcanzando el 12,0 % y 14,9 %, respectivamente.
