1.3 DISTRIBUCION POR SEXO
El 78,1 % de los 113 112 productores individuales
(Personas Naturales y Sociedades de Hecho) del departamento
de Ancash son hombres y tienen el manejo del 83,7 % de la
superficie total agropecuaria departamental. Por complemento,
el 21,9% de los productores pertenecen al sexo femenino y
manejan solamente, el 16,3 % de las tierras agropecuarias.
a. Seg£n Provincia
La distribuci¢n de los productores individuales por sexo
del departamento, se mantiene tambi‚n a nivel provincial, con
ligeras variantes. La proporci¢n de productores masculinos en
todas las provincias fluct£a entre 72,5 % (el m s bajo) en
Mariscal Luzuriaga y 84,1% (el m s alto) en Huarmey, asimismo
manejan m s del 80,0 % de las superficies agropecuarias; la
diferencia de estas proporciones estar¡an manejadas por
productoras femeninas. Merece destacarse el caso de la
provincia de Recuay, donde existe mayor participaci¢n de las
mujeres (33,8%) con un manejo tambi‚n mayor de tierras (24,3%)
en comparaci¢n con las otras provincias.

b. Seg£n Regi¢n Natural
La distribuci¢n por sexo de los productores individuales,
seg£n regiones naturales sigue tambi‚n el patr¢n
departamental, en la Costa como en la Sierra existen mayor
n£mero de productores hombres que conducen tambi‚n las
mayores superficies agr¡colas. En la Costa el 84,0 % de los
productores hombres, conducen el 86,9 % de las tierras; en la
Sierra el 77,4% de los productores hombres, conducen el 83,4 %
de las tierras. Not ndose en la Sierra una mayor participaci¢n
de las mujeres.
