2.4 ANDENES Y TERRAZAS
El Censo Agropecuario de 1994 registra en el departamento
de Cajamarca la existencia de 2 410 UA con andenes y terrazas. De es-
tas unidades el 95,9 % tienen terrazas y solamente 4,6 % disponen
de andenes.
De las 2 410 unidades agropecuarias que tienen andenes y terra-
zas; 1 509 (62,6 %) se encuentran en la provincia de Cajamarca, 447
(18,5 %) en San Marcos y 333 (13,8 %) en Cajabamba entre las principa-
les. Cabe resaltar que, solamente Ja‚n no cuenta con andenes
y terrazas.
El comportamiento a nivel de estratos no representa una tendencia
definida. As¡ en los andenes, de 4,4 % de las UA del primer estrato,
disminuye a 3,6 % en el segundo estrato, aumenta a 8,4 % en el tercero
y finalmente decrece a 7,1 % en el £ltimo estrato. Con respecto a las
UA que tienen terrazas, se observa que representa el 96,0 % en el pri-
mer estrato, aumenta a 96,8 % en el segundo, para decrecer a 93,2 %
y 92,9 % en el tercer y cuarto estrato, respectivamente.

La superficie total que ocupan los andenes y terrazas es de 72,98
Has.. De esta superficie, el 97,9 % corresponde a las terrazas y sola-
mente 2,1 % a los andenes.
De las 72,98 Has. que disponen de esta infraestructura, 44,13
Has. (60,5 %) se ubican en la provincia de Cajamarca, 12,49 Has.
(17,1 %) en Cajabamba, 7,38 Has. (10,1 %) en San Marcos y 6,80 Has.
(9,3 %) en Chota. Las provincias restantes acumulan s¢lo el 3,0 % de
la superficie con andenes y terrazas.
A nivel de estratos, en los andenes sobresale el 7,7 % de super-
ficie de la mediana agricultura y en las terrazas es destacable
el 99,7 % de superficie la gran agricultura y el 99,2 % en la peque¤a
agricultura.
